Paper tape week: day 1 - Gio

Hi ,
Hope you had a lovely weekend and got lots of crafting time ;)
This week is going to be all about paper tape, otherwise known as Washi tape.
Paper tape is a low tack, decorative tape. It's easy to use, easy to tear (no need for scissors) and it's a fantastic and easy way to add that extra little touch on your samples.

We now have quite a selection of paper tapes on our site. Many of you will already know the Tim Hotlz one...

but we have more in the embellishments section (click on the images to find them online).

We also have the Glue Dots masking tape you can use. You can then make the tape yourself: lots of fun and you are sure that it will match your sample as you will be the one choosing the colours and design.

I (Izzy) had a go at this one the other day, and I really enjoyed it.

I first coloured them with Copic Markers, and I then stamped them with Memento ink: quick and easy, yet effective.
I had just received my order from the Craft Barn and a new set of stamps (Woodware Heart and Home) and it was perfect for the tape

The good thing about this tape, is that you can cut it the width. It gives you a lot of possibilities.  The full width one (2.5 cm) is the one with the leaves, then I did the home one (1.3 cm), a bit smaller and then the two pink ones (1 cm)

Stamps: Crafty Individuals CI-207
Woodware: Heart and home

Throughout the week, you will see how our DT used the tapes above but also other ways to make your own tape. It's going to be another fab, inspirational week.
Starting with Gio today and another page for her calendar, as well as a a scrapbook page.

Cut a piece of Claudine Hellmuth Sticky back canvas to size. Paint it using small quantity of colours of Fresco Fresco Finish paints: Haystack and Pumpkin soup and DecoArt Traditions Artist Acrylic: Transparent red iron oxide. Once dry, adhere small bits of Tim Holtz Tissue Tape Nostalgic and Tissue Tape Sketchbook in the middle and along the borders.
Stamp randomly using Andy Skinner acrylic stamps: Letting off steam and Ranger Archival Ink pad: Coffee. Adhere some pieces of tape on the work desk, paint lightly with PaperArtsy Fresco Finish paint Snowflake and stamp the sentiment using art-Us clear stamp: Paint alphabet 3 and Ranger Archival Ink pad: Coffee. Add the month and the stamped details along with little gears/embellishments.

With the same technique I decorated a canvas, adding some pictures.

Gio used:
Tim Holtz embellishments: Tissue Tape Nostalgic, Sketchbook
Claudine Hellmuth Sticky canvas - 8.5 x 11"
